MINUTES OF THE WYOMING PROSPECTORS ASSOCIATION

Meeting held at 1:00 P.M. August 14th, 1999; at the Carroll
                             Placer Claim Site

President McMillan called meeting to order.

President McMillan asked the new members to introduce
                      themselves.

Minutes from last meeting were read. Motion was made and
seconded to approve minutes as read. Motion carried.

President McMillan gave treasurers’ report. Motion was made and
seconded to approve report as read.  Motion carried.

                      Call for old business.

President McMillan explained that the lawyer has suggested that we
set up a board of directors. He suggested that we have five
members on the board, with the officers as four of them and the past
president as the fifth member. Ross suggested that until we have a
past president, that the president appoint the fifth member. Motion
was made and seconded. Motion carried.

Randy Hutchinson was appointed as the fifth board member by
                      President McMillan.

President McMillan also stated that lawyer suggested changing
name so we can be set as a non-profit organization. George
Linstenberg explained that G.P.A.A. is not a non-profit
                      organization.

There was a motion made to name the organization Wyoming
Prospectors Association.  Motion seconded. Motion carried.

President McMillan explained that since he had the lawyer drawing
up other paperwork maybe we should trademark the logo we have
been using on the web site and cards, etc. for the W.P.A.

Gene Baker explained that he has used the logo since 1991 and that
we will have to notify the design before we can trademark it.

There was then a long discussion on the pros and cons of opening up
lands to companies to come in and mine. Gene stated that he would
always keep the Carroll Claim Site open to the public and would not
let a big company come in and shut it down.

He then further explained that he and his partners are going to sign
over the Carroll Claim Site and one other site to the W.P.A. when
the paperwork goes through. Then it will be up to the chapter to
keep the big companies out. He then stated that he wants to get
permission from the BLM to put port-a-potties on the Carroll Claim
Site. Gene then finished by giving us permission to use the logo.

A motion was then made and seconded to trademark logo. Motion
                      carried.

                      New business was called for.

Ross asked for a moment of silence for Dave Kroon, the person who
                      got him started in GPAA.

George Linstenberg was introduced as national field representive of
GPAA.  He explained that he represents the GPAA to us; and that
he represents us to the GPAA. He told about some of the places he
has been and some of his different experiences. He told about the
different items he brought to sell and auction off.

He was asked about Perry Massey doing an educational tape on this
area. George stated that he couldn’t speak for Perry, but said he
would talk to him about it.

Carol then asked George about how to contact the other GPAA
members in the state. He explained the best way to get the word out
is word-of-mouth. He said to wear your hat up town and to talk to
everybody who asks about it. George further explained that
anything we would put in the Prospector’s Magazine or the Pick and
Shovel would need a two-month lead-time. When asked about the
national GPAA office either doing another mailing or attaining the
list of Wyoming members; George explained that the national office
would not give out members’ names for their privacy, and that they
would probably not do another mailing; unless we would be willing to
                      pay postage.

Ross brought up the Yankee Gulch claim site. He stated that there
are a lot of holes that need to be filled in. He even referred to it as
looking like the moon. It was stated that would probably get a work
party together at next meeting to go fill in holes.

George explained that some chapters set a side one weekend a
month to clean up one site. It was decided that we would rather
spent our time panning then cleaning up other sites during the
summer, and that we really don’t have enough problems to justify
                      doing so each month.

Motion was made and seconded to hold meeting at the Carroll Claim
                      Site. Motion carried.

Motion was made and seconded to adjourn meeting. Motion carried.

                      Respectively submitted by
                      Corette Drake
